Greenleaf was honored to work with the Center for Urban Resilience and Environmental Sustainability (CURES) at the University of Illinois team as part of the organizing committee on the CURES Connections Workshop: New Voices and Paths to Urban Sustainability on August 7th and 8th. Participants at the event included municipalities (from rural to large urban), private industry, non-profit organizations, utilities, universities, and national laboratories. Following informative panels, attendees formed working groups to address issues in energy, water, and climate, across the range of municipality sizes. The groups determined some of the barriers to achieving urban sustainability and some lever points that could enable sustainable solutions. The second day of the workshop focused on plans to achieve solutions identified and requirements to support these actions.
We thank the CURES workshop organizers, presenters, and attendees for their active participation and insight at the workshop. We look forward to working towards solutions to address our urban sustainability challenges.
