On World Soil Day, we recognize the importance of protecting our soils for the health and wellbeing of society. Greenleaf works to protect soil health through our Healthy Soils for Healthy Waters Initiative to advance integrated, whole systems approaches to the optimization of agricultural land management. We are grateful to work with leading organizations and universities to improve agricultural practices that protect our water resources, maintain or improve yields, protect soil quality, enhance biodiversity and provide nutritious crops.
We look forward to working with the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center at the University of Illinois on our next workshop where we focus on sensor technology that can monitor and assimilate data to improve soil health attributes. The workshop will bring together leaders and stakeholders from across many sectors such as sustainable agriculture practitioners, sensing technology researchers and manufacturers, agricultural researchers and engineers, Extension services, and environmental non-profit organizations to articulate and discuss critical assets and needs related to sustainable agriculture with a particular focus on sensor technologies.
